Why does my guy friend hate me now?

My guy friend hates me now! We've known each other for about 5 years now. I talk to him occasionally because we don't have many classes together. One day jokingly I said, "Wow you're so fake! We never talk anymore." He gave me the dirtiest look and said whatever then walked away from me mid-sentence. This happened a month ago and we still haven't talked. Now this is very alarming because he's known for being the sweetest guy. He still hasn't apologized or attempted to talk to me but he has no problem talking to my friends especially when I'm already in conversation with them. Can someone explain this to me?

saying that to him you hurt his feeling, the way he was acting the way he was before you said that, that is the way he is and you saying your so fake, you took that away from him meaning he thinks you don't like him like that which that's the way he wants to be.

Maybe he liked you caz I use to like my guy friend but I tried not to make it obvious but I don't know if he could tell but he liked one of my friends and he said "we never talk anymore"but now he doesn't look at me
