I got what you are talking about and I love wearing pink, but ma'am, I'm okay with the way I am. I don't want to take risks and be called unworthy of my balls.
The feminine is a position of inferiority. It can only be maintained by women because of a woman's desirability and sympathisability. Kind of like how we think babies are cute even though they're helpless.
When you combine the roughness/uncuteness of a man with the inferiority of feminine things, it just clashes.
With the exception of athletes such as bodybuilders or swimmers, a man who shaves or waxes his legs does the same thing to his vagina. No it's NOT OK to be girly. There's an old saying - "the clothes don't make the man", especially when the clothes are a dress, skinny jeans or fuzzy socks. It's not about being gay or straight, it's about being a damn man
What the actual fuck. When has shaving become girly? Just because a guy doesn't want to have a bush growing on his legs doesn't make him "girly" by default.. Stop being arrogant and ignorant. There's no "man up" in any of this. This author is simply saying that men should be able to express themselves how they'd like without blatant ignorant people like you getting in the way of someone expressing themselves and being who they'd like to be. Because that's not only inconsiderate and disrespectful in the highest regards, but it's simply rude. Why do you feel like you can simply tell people how they should act simply based on something as ridiculous as "well, you have a ding-a-ling so you should act this specific and certain way." That's just so ridiculous. Quit it.
I love wearing heels, hose and shorts. The neighbors are becoming accustomed to me.
Umbrella's are not gendered. Men who wear women's clothes with the express purpose of appearing to be female may be trying to hide something. A guy who does this should also say that he is a male. With a penis. Trying to fool society into thinking he has a vagina.
I believe this take was "wear whatever you want and still be a man"
@FallOutBoy2001 The take is "Hey Guys, it's OKAY to be "Girly" " It's right at the top of the page. Just saying.
Being "girly" doesn't mean you aren't a man. Being a tomboy doesn't make a girl any less of a women
@FallOutBoy2001 you're studying liberal arts or gender studies or something, be careful that you don't joing the sjw brigade.
Uh, no, I'm preparing to study astrophysics, with a minor in chemistry.
@FallOutBoy2001 Are you hanging around people studying these things?
Uh, no.
Do you really think that wearing a skirt or the color pink make you any less of a man?
@FallOutBoy2001 Not biologically, no. It doesn't change your gender, but wearing a skirt is not something I would do.
@FallOutBoy2001 Yes it does exactly mean that. You can be a girly male or a man, but not the mix of two.
@hausmeister1707 wow. Seriously masculinity seems incredibly fragile
@FallOutBoy2001 I don't even know what did you try to imply there.
They should be, but aren't.
Women are policed on their looks and sexual activities.
Men are policed on being tough and manly.
I agree. I know that every guy wants to be or wish they were girls
what's wrong in staying like a guy. as far as being girly is concerned , i would definitely not be like a girl in clothing. maybe caring for kids is a quality i would like to have.
If you look into history, any society which has allowed or encouraged men to become less masculine has not survived. A strong society needs masculine men. This is not a good thing.
The spartans encouraged homosexual relationships among their soldiers and they were some of the fiercest warriors in history.
The greeks and romans wore togas, which are basically dresses, and the roman empire lasted around 500 years.
I would be fascinated to hear the actual facts you have to back up your claim.
There may have been homosexual spartan warriors, but being gay/straight has little to do with that. There are masculine gay men and effeminate straight men. In fact a common complaint of gay guys I know is that they can't stand camp guys and they hate the stereotype of "gay" meaning an effeminate man, they don't understand why men who like men act so much like women. Spartan men were hyper-masculine whether they were gay or not.
What do you think happened to men/masculinity before the fall of the Roman Empire?
No the spartans where actually against it, other greek societies did that but not spartans also homosexuality is not feminine its sexuality as long as the men continued functioning in a masculine way it was acceptable hence ancient rome having the taboo of being penetrated because it was a female act so any man who was penetrated was less then a man and publicaly shamed. Togas, they where actually different then dresses, thats quite an absurd statement to make, I mean I'm sure you where pants that are designed for women but does that mean your ultra masculine? No thats completely absurd to presume that. In ancient nordic culture women could be warriors or sorceresses (diviners those who spoke to the gods and spirits) however a man was not allowed to be anything but a masculine warrior, it was considered ergi (feminine) and this was so unacceptable that any accusation of such would have to result in a duel to the death or the man would be exiled from the community.
No it's not okay for men to bow down to these modern feminist demands. That's the opposite of being manly.
what the hell? I'm not demanding anyone. I'm just saying you should be allowed to be girly if you want to. there's nothing wrong with being masculine if it makes you happy.
Well I am demanding that men act like men.
@John_Doesnt How about I start this conversation by calling you out on being an arrogant and ignorant prick? Sorry pal. You can live your lifestyle how you want to, but frankly, you really can't speak on behalf of approximately half of the human population is such a rash and absurd fashion. This girl is simply saying that anyone should be able and comfortable to be who they want to be. You're obviously comfortable with being a self-absorbant prick. That's all fine and well. Would you be liked for being a self-absorbent prick? I guess you're the only one who's going to be finding that out bub.
@ebbyeb how about you suck it?
@John_Doesnt How about you get educated and move on with your life? Seems a lot more productive to me. But you do you boo boo.
@ebbyeb well f*** you too and the ship you rode in on.
@John_Doesnt How about you just go do the world a grand old favor? Possibly perish? Sounds like an appealing idea to me :)
I don't care if other men act "girly" but I'm too manly to be girly and I like being manly.
Lol let's be honest here, women do not want girly guys.
Disagreeing with you 110% pal. You just tried to speak on behalf of approximately half of the human population... And what's even more striking is that you aren't even included in that half... Every person has their own preferences in what kinds of people they're attracted to. So you really can't just say that without being perceived as ignorant.
@ebbyeb Obviously I'm talking based on my own experiences, the only girls I've ever known who have liked girly guys have been the emo type, antisocial, nerdy girls. And those are not really the type of people I hang out with.
My point with this opinion was that the large majority of women do actually want masculine guys, just like the large majority of men want feminine women. Sure there are some girls who like feminine guys and some guys who like masculine guys but those people are the exceptions rather than the norm.
You are absolutely right that I should have added "most women do not want girly guys" but I think my point is pretty valid that you will definitely have a harder time finding a girl as a feminine guy.
@Maik567 Yes. You are indeed talking about your own experiences. But your own personal being is not what this world revolves around. I appreciate your input to the extent that it's not coming off as being ignorant, ya know? I do understand your point though, and agree with it, don't get me wrong. It's definitely true that those types of preferences are in the minority, but nevertheless, they shouldn't be trampled and forgotten. But I'm glad to see that you understand that! That's good šš¼
@ebbyeb " But your own personal being is not what this world revolves around."
Never said it did, I honestly don't know where you even came up with the idea that I would think that way. I thought that it was self evident that I was talking about my own personal experiences, when I make statements here I think it should be obvious that I'm only talking about my own experiences unless I specifically say that something happens all around the world.
What my real point was that in mytakes like this there should still be that disclaimer that tells guys that most women still want masculine guys, so these guys don't get bitter when they might not find a woman if they decide to start acting all feminine.
@Maik567 You're entirely right. You never directly stated that. It's all in how you worded what you said and what you implied. Surely you understand where I interpreted that in you peculiar word choice?
Well, frankly it should it should be rather obvious to those men. Think about it in their perspective. Society already has them under lock and key under how they can/should express themselves... Surely they'd know any particular consequences that's come along with them expressing themselves in a manner outside of society's standards? There doesn't need to be any disclaimer at all. And just because a guy does one small seemly "feminine" thing, doesn't mean that society immediately notices and shuns him haha getting one's ears pierced is considered to be a rather "feminine" thing in general, yet, you see guys with their ears pierced. It really doesn't do much to change how people view them.
@ebbyeb "what you implied"
So what do you think that I implied? Cause I have a feeling that you just misinterpreted what I meant.
And I'd like to think that there shouldn't need to be a disclaimer like you, but that simply isn't true. There are plenty of guys who do not have the greatest social knowledge and they take things they read online too literally or go way over the top with them. I think the whole alpha-beta bullshit, guys complaining about friendzoning and some guys saying that girls only like "bad boys" proves that there actually does need to be a disclaimer.
Cause there will inevitably be some dude who starts acting all girly because he thinks that the reinforcement from girls means that girls want to date feminine guys, and then he becomes bitter when reality slaps him in the face.
@Maik567 Must I explain everything to you? Simply try understand on my cases and my point of views, take that into consideration, and reread what you wrote. It shouldn't be too difficult unless you are indeed a bigot and can't see other's perspectives. I think you could do it if you tried. If you tried really hard. It's not that difficult. You've claimed to understand other's points of views etc. So then this task shouting prove too difficult for ya.
That's true. But! The same thing goes for a much larger summation of the population than that. I can't see how you argument proves the need for a disclaimer, although I do understand the potential need for one and why you'd like one. Nevertheless, we both know that even if there WAS a disclaimer, again, people read things and immediately believe them and won't pay attention to those sorts of things. The author could add them if she likes I guess. I think this is a solid article nonetheless.
@ebbyeb Yeah I can do that, but unlike you I'd rather not make baseless assumptions and actually find out for sure if you did misinterpret what I meant or not.
You write all that whining about me asking you questions but you didn't actually bother answering the question. What did you think I implied?
And I think my argument proves that this article would be better with a disclaimer.
Wow. So indecent that you couldn't even read what I said. No point in discussing anything further with you as it seems like you might've finally realized that your point will reach no further than it has and you have nothing much to fillibuster about :)
@ebbyeb Still couldn't answer a simple question lol. You really aren't very smart.
I've realized that I'm talking to pseudo-intellectual idiot with an ego to match. The only thing you've done here is avoid my arguments as much as you can and spam "filibuster" without even knowing what it actually means.
Nice efforts!.. But practically it will be a failure
It's all in trying though :)
@ebbyeb well today society won't accept it I can't say about future but you are young and in future you will grow elder and society may accept your thoughts
I don't "fear" being feminine i just find it disguisting. And personally i don't even know why would i want to be more feminine if i'm a male.
I absolutely love girly girls... the girlier, the better.
What you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I've ever heard.
HA! I'm one of the people who actually is.
GUYS LEAVE ME ALONE I DO WHAT I WANT XD
I would be grossed out by a guy dressing like that, not that it's any of my business but still
Ugh, your quite confused.
Boys have a penis and are physically stronger
girls have a vagina and are physically weaker.
these are facts not opinions
You have to think of context though. Yes, that's true of MOST boys and MOST girls but not ALL.
There are boys who are physically weak. There are girls who are physically strong.
These are facts, not opinions.
how bout we both get hit in the crotch with baseballs and see whos the weaker one?
@north2south I will have no participation in this, but @kickme seems to be asking for it literally in his name. XP
@Harpesian okay, I'll give that to you, that was actually pretty funny... But! Nevertheless, I completely disagree with what you're trying to say. @north2south LMAO! Right? That's hilarious that you say that!
They can dress however they want. But I'm into men who dress manly.
