If it's too close for comfort ask to switch to a female trainer. Maybe you'll feel more comfortable. The trainers at my gym... some can seem really cocky.
Like we got one new trainer at our gym and I was casually talking to him because I thought I saw him somewhere but was mistaken. His comment was that he musta been really hot... I'm a heterosexual and I wouldn't really recognize other men that way. to me that is just way too cocky and narcissistic to think that way.

He did, in fact, hit on you and attempt to ascertain your dating status goals. I mean, who, what, or don't you do in regards to dating is irrelevant to his position and his evaluation of you. In fact, I'm inclined to believe that is you were male, his questions would have been limited to, for the most part, exercise and scheduling related questions only.
He either likes you or he is trying to cross the lines of professionalism and make his relationship with you more "personal" in the hopes of getting more money from you. But his question about birth control makes me think that if he does like you - he just wants to sleep with you.
I'm not sure why he asked if you were meeting someone. But I do know that birth control can really effect your weight, but i'm still unsure why he would even ask that.

He was hitting on you, but be very careful here. I have seen a lot of personal trainer guys take advantage of their position to game hundreds of girls, especially ones that are somewhat cute but with low self-esteem, because that enables them to pluck/fuck a lot of low-hanging fruit. This is assuming, of course, that wasn't gaming you for financial reasons, which is also possible.
Theyre very normal for a trainer and im sorry to say but its also very common for the clients to think its more than just a fitness session. Theyre being paid to provide a service and be nice to you, just like waitresses, bar staff and checkout staff.
I mean you can always see where it goes but dont get your hopes upIt's probably just to get to know you so he can make the fitness routine for you. Pretty much all of those questions pertain to health so I would say there isn't something underlying.
