Why does he keep on taking quick glances at me?

So I had this guy friend that I liked in a different way. I told him my feeling and we had been avoiding each other since then. We texted once but the conversation is personal. Today I asked him if we could be just friends and he said sure of course. But whenever we are in the same place (school yard, corridor, etc) he takes quick glances in my direction. We even made eye contact.
I know every guy is different but it won't hurt to ask a question right? Just please be honest with your answers.

The guy's finds you hot. He's attracted to you, so he naturally takes glances in your direction. When guys are attracted to girls, the thought of what sex would be like with her will cross his mind. And when this happens, it's pretty much impossible for him to look at you in a non-sexual manner.

Guys have trouble remaining "friends" with a girl that they look at in this manner. Again, it's pretty much impossible for a guy to look at you as "just a friend," if he knows he wants to have sex with you. So, I don't really know how well this friendship is gonna work out.
