there's this guy in my class who I talk to, he was in my group chat he told me face to face that he saved my number first but he doesn't talk to me first I have to talk to him he replies straight away

If its not an equal initiation of conversation he's either extremely shy (unlikely) or you're his backup plan for when he can't find anyone to talk to. Or third you have your number he didn't turn it down... Simple as that
