Guy being Hot and Cold

I like this guy a lot, but he's getting kind of hot and cold and it's confusing and depressing at the same time. One week will be full of us talking, or things happening that indicate his interest, and then weekend comes, about 72 hours pass, and he seems so disinterested and it's back to square one. Maybe it's because it's Monday...I don't know. I mean I don't see that as an excuse because even when I'm having a bad day or not on top of my game I'm happy to see him. Or maybe I'm not showing enough interest, because when I feel like his ignoring me I can't face him anymore and I guess I seem standoff-ish and sort of avoid him. I just wonder if he's playing with me or something, or I'm putting him off. He's really shy, and I always have my guard up. I tried to let it down today and talk to him today, ask him a simple question and start a convo, but he didn't seem too invested. Maybe I'm just self conscious, or over analyzing. I can't decide if I'm making excuses (because I keep thinking I shouldn't have bothered him while he was doing his homework), or if I really need to find away around this hot and cold song and dance.

Everything steadily gets more climactic every week between us and then is suddenly stops. What should I do about this hot and cold guy? Is he nice, playing with me, or is a shyness killing us?

dude is a douchebag I had one of those he liked the ugliest girls in school went out with thtem and just would be nice and ignore me the next day. I got the hint, he didn't like me..but it didn't kill me. Everything happens for a reason

Who's the one that makes most of the moves (initiating conversations)? If he does it often, perhaps he's waiting for you to do it for once?

Umm.... I would have to say as of late he's the one who's been initiating conversations, and really often in the last week or so. I'll try initiating another convo when he's not busy and see how it goes. Thank you.
