If someone ONLY compliments on your appearance?

Hi guys,

when a girl receives lots of compliments ONLY abozt her physical appearance from a. guy she's dating and the guy previously told her "I'd like you to be my girl and I really like you. I'm attracted to you." , and this guy is trying to support/help her when she needs help for example with accomodation or so, how serious is he then?
The conversations weren't just superficial all the time but also personal..
Does he really likes her for who she is and wants a serious relationship or is he just hoping for sex?!

Nothing but physical compliments are generally an indication of a sexual interest, not a personal interest. If I am really into a girl, and want to know about her as a person, I actually try to minimize the amount of physical compliments I give out to make sure she knows that I am not with her simply because she is physically attractive.

I don't want someone to date me just because of what I look like. The only thing I know about the future is that my looks will change over time. That's the worst thing to base a relationship on. And I don't want to date a woman just because of what she looks like.

A focus on the physical is generally going to be indicative of a guy that is hoping for sex, and most interested in a girl's body, not her mind.

It can be that he doesn't know what to talk about for most of the time. Still see if he'll help support you through your problems. Then you'll know for sure.

guys give shallow compliments to women so that the woman will feel better about herself and warm up to the guy... things such as "nice nails, hair, makeup etc." unless theyre a friend and you can tell they genuinely mean it as they acknowledge other aspects of you instead of stupid silly shit.

compliments in general are stupid. i will only give them if i mean them and i only pay attention to the ones that were uniquely for me

It's possible he's just a shallow guy and just really attracted to the way you look. If he's trying to get to know you, it might be that he is initially attracted to your looks but does want to get closer emotionally as well. The best way to test this is by taking it slow. Just spend time getting to know each other. Then he might start to compliment your personality as well. If not... I don't know, follow your gut.
