Roommate crying loudly at night, what should I do?

So I have this male roommate who I've never really talked to that much, but for the past few nights I've heard weeping from his room. I know he broke up with his girlfriend so I'm assuming that's the cause, but I'm wondering if I should pretend I don't notice or try to be there for him. If I do reach out to him, what should I do? What are you supposed to do when guys cry? None of my bfs ever cried in front of me so I'm clueless. I don't want to be nosey, but it sounds so sad. It doesn't sound like he's trying to keep it quiet at all, so I feel like either he can't help it, or it's an actual cry for help. What should I do?

Go to him. He needs friends right now who show him that there are people caring for him. And that life isn't over. Just hug him. Dont say anything against the other Girl he's crying about and also dont say something nice about her. The mind is probably confused and he could give a really unexpected reaction, defending her. And his guy Friends need to drag him out, go clubbing and stuff like this. Just showing him that there are more Girls.

let him cry, you are his roomate not his relative or a friend. It's not about you sticking your nose, is more about you taking on an unnecessary burden.

I think it sounds like a cry for help. If he does it again, I'd go knock on his door and ask, "can I come in?" This is when he'll be most likely to open up. If you ask him during the day he probably won't.
Sometimes when you're going through something hard you just need someone to listen and act like they care. It can really mean a lot.
