Guys, Why does my boyfriend like me to lie on top of him (not sexual)?

So yesterday I was at his house in his room and he kept pulling me onto his lap and then pulling me back to lie down on top of him. He put his legs in between mine and rested his hands just under my chest. He knows I'm religious and respects that so asked if I was alright with his hands there and I said it was fine. It did feel comfortable to hug like that but I just wondered why he kept wanting me to lie on top him like that as I'm not sure if it would be comfortable with my weight on him.

A certain amount of weight on me is comfortable. Not sure why, maybe the feeling of protection and warmth adds to it. I tend to sleep with a body pillow on top of me, it's nice cause I can move around with the weight.
