What's up with my guy friend wanting to FaceTime me so badly?

so I have this guy friend that I text everyday and so I'm leaving on a cruise for spring break tomorrow and won't be able to text for a week and so I told him and he said can we please FaceTime right now before you go. And As soon as he said that I panicked a lot cause I like him and admitted it to him a week ago but he told me he was afraid if my parents found out that They would never let me talk to him again and also said that he doesn't think he could love anymore (last girl he had a crush on didn't like him and his crush sent nudes to his old friend and my friend didn't't find out till he said he was over her so he was shocked) but then a few days after he said he was over her and said that we could talk and had a smiley face with the text but after a few days that was when I mentioned he found out his crush sent nudes to his old friend so he said he couldn't have another heart break right now but that was 2 weeks ago so like I also mentioned he texted after I said I wouldn't be able to talk to I'm he said "can we facetime right now before you go" And I got all nervous and shy and then he texted "please" then he sent another text saying hi so I'm so confused why does he want to FaceTime so badly? Is it possible he does have feelings for me? And how am I supposed to FaceTime him without getting nervous (I'm nervous about having nothing to talk about with him and just awkwardly sitting there looking at him) And please don't lecture me about how dangerous it could be I'm almost 18. he clearly doesn't want to do anything dirty it shows especially when he got into shock about his crush sending nudes to his old friend

Since he feels scared that ur parents will find out about you liking him, he's trying to connect with you in any way possible. It seems like he's afraid of losing you, as he said he would be afraid to not be able to talk to you. Some people prefer to talk face to face to make it easier to read emotions and have a meaningful conversation. The guy is trying to get closer to you. He is at a fragile point of his love life, and he's reaching out to you for reassurance. The reason for him begging to facetime is probably because you guys won't talk for a week, and he wants a meaningful conversation to remember when he has to spend a week without you texting him. As for him liking you, there's always a chance he just values you as a close friend, but it seems like there could be something more.
