Guy friend like me?

I have a guy friend of 8 years. I’ve always low key had a crush on him but always felt he only saw me as a friend. He disappeared for a while after a cancer scare diagnosis and came back into my life after a year. And he’s so nice to me now and acting different towards me. Is it normal for a guy friend to want to FaceTime every night with you while he’s studying and to talk? We’d also text in paragraphs but that stopped when we started FaceTiming. Now he wants to take me out to eat this week and we’re going hiking the next. I still treat him as a friend bc he called us cool peeps, but sometimes he’ll bring up things from the past that I’ve done to show interest and I have to pretend like I didn’t remember

I really couldn't tell if he is interested on something more or not. He definitely likes you and enjoys your company but if you want to be sure you need to be a bit more straight forward. Guys can be quite bad at taking hints and you seem to be a very subtle person. In any case, as time passes I guess you should be able to tell. The question would be, do you want to wait?

Lol yes i am a bit subtle 😆 Just im a bit conflicted at there moment bc I just got out of a relationship two weeks prior to him contacting me, so I don't know if I’m ready for anything right now. No I don’t want to wait :(
