"Sorry, I fell asleep" excuse. Really?

I was seeing this guy and he seemed like a great guy until recently. We made plans to hang out. He told me that he was leaving work and was on the way at 5:30pm. I was excited and really looking forward to seeing him. He never showed up and didn't bother to respond to my texts or phone call. He waited until the next morning to tell me that sorry, he fell asleep. I was so pissed off that I sent him a text that it's not cool to stand someone up like that and that I feel that such behavior shows a lack of respect of my time and feelings. If he truly was tired, he could've told me that and I would've understood and rescheduled our plans for a different day. This is the 2nd time that he's used this excuse. The 1st time he did this, I forgave him but at this point I feel like he's just using it as a bs excuse, especially since he said that he was leaving work and was on the way to my place. Guys, have you ever used this line with women? If so, why? If he wasn't interested in me, then why would he have bothered to even make plans in the first place? Why not just say that he doesn't want to see me anymore and be done with it? He was the one who had picked the day and time to hang out because he said that's when his schedule was free. I don't get it.

I've uttered the line, but not as an excuse, rather the truth. It is quite an idiotic thing to come up with since he said he was already on his way, I mean that would involve falling asleep while driving. Sorry, gotta laugh at the stupidity a bit. All I can come up with is that he must be fairly insecure deep inside, and feels he needs to keep you in tow for times when he is alone and has no other options.

Since I don't anything about him, I hate to accusatory, but that is totally within the realm of possibility. Seen it happen to many times. It may not be anything with other women, could just be a night out with the guys. In any instance, the guy clearly has some openness issues and doesn't appear to be none to excited or eager to make an impression, a good one anyways, being in the early stages.

No, just... no. This guy is an idiot. He was leaving work and was on his way to your place. Either he's driving or taking the bus. Highly doubt he fell asleep while ethier driving, taking the bus or whatever he uses to get around.

Talk to him, tell him how you feel. If he tries to down play it in any way just leave. He isn't worth it.
