Haha there is no set number do initiate a conversation with anyone. You just have to read between the lines (i. e. if they give you one word answers, or just short with you, body language, etc.. that means they don't want to talk). There are not a lot of women that will actually start a conversation. I hear in my daily life, and even on here, women complaining about there boyfriend or there crush they are talking to not starting a conversation. Well here is your easy fix.

I'd say you should hit him up once-twice and then leave him be. If he misses you, he'll start a conversation on his own. It's not like you should be putting all the effort.

It's not a wrong thing for a girl to start the conversation. It can show the guy that she does want to talk and has an interest. So if you do have an interest don't worry about being the one to start the conversation.
