Assuming I have kids, as a reasonable man if my wife would need to survive. I'd save the wife.

Thing is Most man didn't have that experience the Same as others did and that's fine putting it into perspective I may not had the Same joyfull childhood as you did.
I did some research and apparently this is a question on the Chinese equivalent to the Bar Exam. Interestingly enough, if a man in China chooses to save his girlfriend he has committed a crime, because by law he is obligated to save his mother if he can, but has no obligation to save his girlfriend.

Usually this question is answered in front of girlfriend and mother. If you have a gentle girlfriend, it's still good.
