What does it mean when a guy boasts when you talk to him?

I was talking to this guy in my class, he stares at me sometimes when he thinks I'm not looking and sometimes finds excuses to talk to me. Well when we were talking I felt like he was boasting for e. g. he was telling me how many colleges have called him for interviews but he's rejected them, how much he's scored in exams even though he doesn't really study all that much etc. I also got the feeling that he's talking too much 😅 What was up with him?

The male peacock flashes the female with flamboyant feathers to attract her. In this case his boasting is supposed to make him more macho much like the peacocks feathers. He is trying really hard but doesn't know what you are looking at.

Turns out men and their masculinity are under attack from many sides, so many men that manage to stay masculine don't know how to be a man and then you get this helpless but noble guy.

At very least even if you don't date him maybe you could have some respect for his courage to speak to you at all and compassion for his lack of manliness training and help him channel his masculinity into a more appropriate and more masculine tactic.

My guess is he had no strong father figure either because of divorce, or maybe an effeminate father. This leads men down the wrong path but at least he is trying and on most fronts succeeding.

I don't mean to undermine him, without the context I have its hard to understand what he could have gone through. But you should see his effort and since you're close to him you can see whether he really is a good catch under his less than ideal dating tactics.

He feels like he has to sell himself which suggests underlying insecurity. He's not innately confident in his qualities and hence he feels that you won't be impressed unless he makes a point of impressing you.

Alternatively, he might just have a very small penis.

He finds any excuses to talk to you, and he talks to you with any shit that doesn't matter to you, he just speaks to you... Plus he is a little shy, maybe more than you are.
