Does forgetting things mean you don't care?

What do you think guys? Girls? If you like someone do you forget things, details, favors they ask of you?

For example, I've asked this guy I like for some information (regarding a sports team in our workplace) which he offered to send me, but he forgot. Then one week later we're talking and he mentioned that he forgot to send me the info and would send it to me. He forgot again.. In my opinion if you like someone it's these little details that count to showing someone that you like them. I understand forgetting stuff once, but twice? As for anniversaries and such, understood, dates are hard to remember, but small and quick favors don't seem like such a hassle, especially if you can do them right away.

So I'm interested in hearing your opinions. Have you ever forgotten? Has someone forgotten to do something for you? How did this affect you?

Hold it there, friend. Let's keep in mind that my medical condition will last me THE REST OF MY LIFE. I did not ask for it. I cannot help it. I cannot control it. It is widely and officially documented that memory loss will be an asped of life's struggles for me. To me, forgetting means I simply did not have the mental capacity to retain that information.

If, for example, my brain had "x" capacity and I could control what to fill it with and what to jettison then I would be on Easy Street. But it doesn't work that way. I have no control over what gets remembered and what gets forgotten. There are some things I really really WANT to remember. That still is no guarantee. Otherwise when I was in school I would have passed everything with flying colors. You're not being very fair about all of this. You make it sound like you're assuming it was deliberate. It's not quite that easy.

But even my wife accuses me of forgetting things "on purpose." I wish she would understand.

Has someone forgotten to do something for me? I suppose they did. I don't remember the specifics. But I can relate and I am forgiving.

Lol I remember conversations etc. from over 10 years ago.. not because I try.. stuff just hangs around.

i think that when you're truly interested in someone your mental faculties probably are at their highest because you want to remember everything that the person has told you. You seem to remember weird things that the person told you and favours are usually done right away to ensure that either it gets done or that the person can see that you're in to them. So yeah forgetting to me usually tells me that you're not really interested. The exception to this rule for me is if the person has some sort of mental or nutritional disorder that causes temporary amnesia or forgetfulness or the have Alzheimer's Disease.

If he really liked you and this favor was a way for him to stay in touch with you and get to know you better, he wouldn't forget. But if he sees you a lot anyway, it probably doesn't mean anything. Sometimes people are really busy and stuff just slips through the crack. I often take a long time to call people back etc, because I'll remember when I'm in class and can't do it and then by the time I'm home and free my mind has moved on to something else. Things like that. And it's exams season for a lot of students, so if he's in school, that would make him extra busy.

If you forget, you forget. Don't overreact. That's how it is for me anyway. If they forgot you can tell whether or not they care by their reaction. :/

generally it depends what is the point the other person forgot about it.

but same condition happened to me, when a person asked me about some teachers' name, and I promised to send an email includes the teachers name. I really remember it, but maybe I'm a little lazy to check for the names and send them!

so maybe he doesn't have enough information and suppose to do researches to bring a good amount of information but he is too busy for it. so he preferred not sending anything than send wrong or not complete information.

I think that it means they don't care. as for the little things, maybe it just really slipped their mind. But when a guy "forgets" that you had plans to hang out or forgets about you telling them something important, take that as a warning sign that he's just playing you or is really not interested.

I wouldn't take it too hard, especially if he has a busy life and lots of things to keep track of.

I never remember my monthiversary with my boyfriend. HE'S always the one who says, "Happy __ months!" and I'm SO thankful he doesn't take it the wrong way. He completely understands, and that attitude about it is what motivates me to try to remember next time. :P

So no, I don't think it necessarily means you don't care.

It really all depends on what the person forgets about for me to be upset over it because I honestly forget stuff all the time, I'm so bad about it, but it doesn't mean I care any less the person I forgot sending something to, or whatever, its prob just because I'm busy.

I voted "B" because I have to look at each guy individually. Some guys can remember those things and others don't. I don't take it personally or it  doesn't diminish what I think about him.  It seems to me that females tend to remember things, even little things more then guys do.  Perhaps it's the way the brain is wired.  If he makes up for it in other ways then I think that matters.

Well when I liked this girl, I forgot constantly all the things she wanted me to do for her because I'm just a horribly forgetful person, but when I fell in love with her I remembered almost everything.

No, I forget to eat, so if I remember dates and to be somewhere on time, then whomever I'm remembering for has it made.  It doesn't really make me feel bad if people forget anniversaries or anything. They must remember my birthday, though. That should be pretty easy, since Facebook tells a week in advance.

nobody ever remembers my birthday or prepares for it, I hardly ever do my birthday on the actual day .. maybe they don't care about the birthday itself.. but it doesn't mean no one cares about me because everyone tries to make up for it.. if they don't even try to make up for it they don't care about me or my birthday

Everybody's different. For some people, it is harder to remember things like that.

I know how you feel though. I get angry when people forget things too. But I have realized its best not to take it personally.

I think in general you should not forget. It's hard to remember every detail, or remember which story you told to not re-tell, etc., but in general, remember.

it depends on what the person is forgetting. if my boyfriend forgets my birthday, or our first year anniversary, that's not okay. if a guy forgets my favorite colour? its fine.

I forgot my mum's B-day twice and was reminded in the last minute. I love this woman immensely and I am thankful every day for all the things she did for me. Yet I forgot her Birthday. No, if someone forgets it doesn't mean they don't care.
