Why did my ex unblock me to tell me he has a girlfriend?

So earlier tonight my ex called me and said that his girlfriend told him to call me because we needed closure. We hadn’t spoken since early May. He said that he has moved on but I’m thinking if he truly moved on why is talking about me to his girlfriend and why does he care enough to call me and tell me that he has a girlfriend. The ironic thing was that he was asking me questions about how I’m doing and when I asked questions about him he said it doesn’t concern me. Also when I asked him how could he hurt me the way he did and he hung. I’m just confused as why he reached to me to tell me he has a girlfriend. Also from a girl’s point of view I wouldn’t tell my boyfriend to call his ex girlfriend. So I’m just very confused as to why my ex did this. The only reason I could think of was that he did this to hurt me.

He is an idiot see I would have responded by saying why do I need to know if you have a girlfriend or not your my ex and we haven’t spoken to each other in months I wouldn’t have answered his questions he was asking either I would have just wished him the best and hung up

Likely he was talking too much about you to his girlfriend and the girlfriend thought if he called you, he'd get it all out of his system.
