Guys, Is my crush playing me?

I have had a crush on him for 2 months and we used to text each other and ask questions about each other. He would text first and send me funny memes etc. then it all stopped when he got a girlfriend but we would still play video games and he would ask me if I didn’t like playing with him anymore because I wouldn’t join him or ask because I wanted him to ask. He would at school always ask why I didn’t join and I would say “because you didn’t text me” and he said how he doesn’t have to be the first one and that I could. Lately I have been mean and a jerk towards him because I’m so confused and I believed that he didn’t like me and was pretending. He then goes out of his way and texts me saying “hey can I be honest with you please..” I go sure what’s up. He started off by asking why I hate him so much which I don’t and asked why he thought that. He then said because my mood constantly changes with him and it does. one minute I can’t get enough of him and the second I’m ignoring him. I then said how things weren’t going well for me which was a lie I didn’t want him to know actually why. He said “that isn’t a excuse for you to be mean to me” I said “yeah I know.. I just don’t think you like me and that ur pretending.” He then told me how he’s not good at pretending and if he didn’t like me he wouldn’t be wanting to fix this situation and that he would like to be closer. Yet he didn’t really text me which I was expecting he would.. we then played video games together and he was calling me cute.. saying “ur so cute..” and later on when we both were concentrating on our game he asked if I wanted him to leave and I said he could do whatever he wanted to do. He then said “I want you..” . Then fast forwarding back to his girlfriend , he was only with her for about a month and he told me how he thinks he shouldn’t be in a relationship and that he didn’t want to hurt her but he ended up breaking up with her. This is where I’m confused..

I couldn’t fit it all but.. When he told me he didn’t think that he should be in a relationship I asked him if he wanted to hop around. He said “yeah I guess...” and he also is a very flirtatious guy with everyone boys and girls it’s just his personality. He also texted me today but I ended that quickly because I just think he’s playing me. He started texting me first again after I started to. I had a strong feeling he was afraid to he would send memes as a “hi”
