Why did he text me after no contact for 4 years?

There’s a guy that I used to be close to in hs. We never dated, but there was a certain level of interest. After awhile, we lost touch when he moved away. Over the years we’ll lose contact and then one of us will message the other and we’ll talk for awhile before it happens again. I’m really confused by this pattern. Any ideas?

Idealistic women believe exes get back in touch for sex. That's wrong! Here are several reasons why anybody comes back

1. They want to see if you're okay (you guys were intimate before?)
2. They didn't contact you before because they wanted you to move on (tell them if you have)
3. They want to be friends
4. They were busy with work that's why it's hard to keep in touch
5. They want sex (it could happen)
6. They don't want you to move on (if they take all your time, that's wrong)
