Why do men go MIA mid conversation?

There’s this guy that I’ve known for a while now that I have a crush on and I’ve noticed a pattern with him. We’ll talk all day everyday for about a week or two and then he’ll just randomly stop replying mid conversation. It’s so strange to me because he’ll be actively engaging in the conversation asking me questions and everything and then just ghosts me. I don’t flirt with him or express any of my romantic interest. Our conversations aren’t dry either. We have a lot in common so I’m so confused by his behavior. Why do men do this?

Its hard to pin down a single reason, but personally if I go MIA in a conversation I'm either busy, with friends, or just don't have any more social energy and taking a break from talking for mental health reasons XD

I'm like that sometimes. Sometimes my response can't be immediate and I need to think about it. It also doesn't help that I'm really good at occasionally shutting down socially.
