If a guy in this situation says he doesn't want to lie to me could that mean he wants more from me than we have now?

I'm friends with that guy, but not purely platonic (we have sex talks and exchange nudes). He told me something he knows I wouldn't like and when I expressed my discontent (in a joking way, I wasn't mad or anything) he told me that he has to and wants to tell me everything because he doesn't want to lie to me. Then he said that he could scam me any time he wants but wants to be completely honest. He said that I know he can scam whomever he wants and that people always believe him (and that is the truth I witnessed it many times), but he doesn't want that with me.

I don't if if he is that good of a liar then I am not sure I could trust that person completely. Just the fact that he is saying he can scam anyone almost makes me think he would scam you as well and just telling you what you want to hear. Just be careful, look at his actions

I know him for a long and he proved to be honest many times, that is why I believe him. He even sometimes seemed like a child (if you know what I mean). So this what he told me came as a surprise and made me wonder why he emphasizes it
