Why would a guy stare at you if he was interested in someone else?

There’s this guy that use to stare at me and make eye contact with me, I started staring at him first so I’m guessing he got the idea and he started staring at me first, I use to ignore him when I passsed by him in the hallway and I would look at him for a brief second and look away but he would continue to look at me. One day when I was coming down the hallway I made eye contact with him and he has been ignoring me even since. I found out he has a girlfriend or probably even before the whole staring situation. I talked to him one time but that was it. But I’m so confused why would he stare at me if he KNEW that I was staring at him and he was interested in someone else?

Guys stare for many reasons ; to show interest, he could be looking at you but thinking about something else (not intentionally) , he could be a creep, he could find you sexually arousing, he might think you're beautiful or ugly or you have something in your teeth. It could be something you said... We won't know. Some guys stare even when they do have a girlfriend... even a wife. Just because you are attached does not mean you can't be attracted to someone. It's what you do about it, like does he talk to you besides staring cause staring isn't enough to know what's on his mind.

He MAYBE curious about you and if he's in relationship already it doesn't mean he can't get a crush on you maybe he's confused about all this crush and girlfriend sort of situation. Guys who are in a relationship doesn't always means that they're sure about the girl they're with (obviously coz in this thing guys are dumb the make a lot of silly mistakes just to be sure about the girl they want to be with). Maybe he's processing what's going on with his situation, if that's the scenario he'll approach you soon enough but it can be casual stare too just to you know compare or adore, most guys do these sort of stuff.
