What goes through your mind when a random woman asks if you wouldn't mind walking her to her car?

I did this tonight. I was shopping at the store. It was a little late, about 9pm. I found this sketchy guy staring at me while I waited in line to pay for my food.

He was making eye contact and he wouldn't look away. I felt unsafe so I asked a store worker, a guy who was on his break if he wouldn't mind walking me to my car. He was really nice about it.

But I wonder what goes through a guys head when a woman asks this? Does it make him feel good or is it annoying? Does it make the woman look like a damsel in distress? I just wonder.

I have walked many a young woman to her car and made sure they got on their way safely.

I mean I may be an asshole but I do really care about women’s safety. I’ve made sure that drunk girls get home safely and whenever I’m on a date I always ask if it is okay for me to walk them back to their car. It isn’t some excuse to try to kiss them or anything. Even if they didn’t like me and had a bad time I’d still want to make sure they were safe.

I don’t know man. I grew up with this whole benevolent sexism/chivalry type mindset. I can’t not do it.

I would wonder why you're asking me cuz I would find that kind of strange

Now if you said "hey can you walk me to my car there's a person over there who's been staring at me and it's kind of scaring me" well then I would be concerned for your safety and either confront him or walk you to your car

I'm reasonable as long as I'm given an explanation I don't even need a detailed one if you're like there's a person who's scaring me I feel like I'm in danger please walk me to my car then yeah that's good enough for me I need no other explanation matter of fact I would much prefer you did not give me a detailed explanation to "oh hey this is my ex-husband who cheated on me about a year ago I wound up getting his house and now he's been stalking me and it's getting kind of scary and I don't feel safe being alone" by that point I would just tell you to call the cops cuz it's like okay yeah this is no longer a random event this is something that goes beyond me

You're very right to think this way. This is a very real thing.
I remember when I was a little kid vacationing in Florida. A woman came up to my dad on the beach saying how she was recently divorced and didn't want to be alone and asked him back to her room. But the lady didn't know my dad was a cop and saw right through her ruse. My dad said there would have been a couple guys back at her room to rob him. What kind of woman comes up and does that to a guy with 5 kids anyhow. I mean c'mon!

It's neither to me, just helping someone out. That being said, what if that store employee wasn't able to walk you to your car? Then what? Bottom line: every individual is responsible for their own personal security. Buy some OC spray or whatever is legal to carry where you live.

I would ask another male worker, someone that is free. But I see what you are saying. Up close weapons wouldn't be good for me I'm really tiny the guy could disarm me easily so definitely pepper spray would be good.

Look up POM oc spray. It is a great product, cheap, and comes highly recommended by self defense experts. I carry mine everyday everywhere I go. It's not bulky at all, about the size of tube of chapstick. Remember: your best self defense weapon is always your mind. Always keep your situational awareness up, know your surroundings, escape routes if necessary etc. Create distance between you and the attacker etc.

considering the region in which I live, yes... I have done this a few times, more easily if she actually will let me know about the guy if he's there and I will also judge on her vibes because...

Easily, lead him to a spot where your male accomplice (s) club him in the head and throw him in the back of a white kidnapper van. Very common tactic.

I am talking about the woman in question not actually being in danger... but being complicit and an accomplice, faking the situation in order for her to lure into a gang of male kidnappers or attackers

Honestly, it makes me think she is interested in me, because why on earth would a grown adult be too scared to walk to her car?

The most that happens when I see unerving people staring at me, is i tell them off or ignore them.

It's not like having someone with me would prevent the risk of an altercation.

I'm always honored and do it without hesitation. My wife does this as well if I can't be with her. You should not live in fear. I hate that women have to deal with this shyt.
My wife will usually call me as well if she does this so I know exactly where she is.

I was in the military for a long time and I've seen a lot of the vile wickedness of man. This is my only fear, that something happens to my family.
Don't hesitate to ask for help. A little pride or perhaps for some, embarrassment could cost you dearly. Please just ask, any guy I know would gladly help.

It's never happened to me, but you're over thinking it as far as "what we'd think". We'd think nothing. I wouldn't anyway. Understandable request, and honestly, more women should probably be doing this. And there'd be no real feeling. It would be just one of those things for me and wouldn't give it a second thought (like this guy that helped you probably). Like it feels good to do something nice for someone and help them, but that's as far as any "feelings" go.

Well personally I have a natural instinct to protect women so I'd ask if everything is alright and if she explains the situation I will make eye contact with her suspected stalker and see if anything happens

It really depends on the situation. But if I felt that I wasn't in any significant danger, then there's no harm. Otherwise, I'd tell her to just call the police.

That is great that you were able to ask a store clerk to assist you to your car. It is okay if somebody asked me. I wouldn't let my wife or daughters to feel unsafe when they are out. Bravo to you woman
