Some guy I was friends with at school texted me to see how I was doing. We haven’t talked in yeaaaars.

Anyways he was a really nice guy and we had a really fun conversation.

It’s been 2 days since and he’s texted me the next morning and carried on the convo.

He’s also apologised for late replies and tells me if he’s going to be busy for a couple of hours.

Does this mean he’s interested in me and we’re texting as more than friends? My issue is he's such a nice guy but I see him as a friend.

Ignore those saying he thinks of you as more than a friend. Give this more time, you can't tell yet by this sort of behaviour. It could just be a lonely guy in need of somewhere to take him back to the good ol' days, someone just genuinely wondering how you're doing, etc etc.

His level of attentiveness suggests that he’s interested in you, but you need more than this to know for sure. If you wonder whether you might want a relationship with him, why not try to have a date? An in-person meeting is probably the only way to see if the two of you have chemistry or whether he will only be a friend to you. If you don’t want to be the one to ask you can keep showing interest and drop some hints (strong ones because he might still be shy).

@Jamie05rhs I agree with @Fynix to an extent, in so far as the man’s intentions are not known as of yet. My thinking, perhaps colored by being someone who was shy during my 20s, is that he would probably not be so attentive if he wasn’t genuinely interested. Of course, it is impossible to know that. I tend to advise against playing coy in order to ferret out another person’s intentions. I’ve also found messaging back and forth to kill a lot of time when figuring out whether there is real potential with a potential relationship. This is why I suggested simply seeing if the fellow would be willing to meet in person.
