I agree some individuals don't "grow-up". I'm one of them. I like Star Wars and Marvel comics and movies. I put stickers on my bikes, have pins on my bags and act immature from time to time. I am responsible, I take good care of my dog and am a good employee. I don't think my choices for recreation and relaxation are a true indication of being grown up or being mature. Children (adult children) not wanting to move out may have to do with finances and the odd times we are in currently experiencing.
Being immature isn't about liking star wars or calling people "dude". It's about knowing that life isn't easy. Its about how we deal with the harder things in life. You can treat people with respect and still call them dude, or you can be a complete dick but hey at least you dont watch disney movies. I get where you're coming from in that this generation is literally so beyond lost, no one values commitment or true hard work anymore and its because it trickles down generation to generation. Lazy parents make lazy kids
So someone has failed to grow because they still enjoy things like video games, or Disney movies? geez, so are we supposed to be sticks in the mud and aren’t allowed to like anything that isn’t “mature” like stamp collecting and paying bills? 💀 that’s like saying eating candy is immature
I never really wanted to grow up and I was dragged kicking and screaming into adulthood. I saw all the Marvel movies and I liked seeing all these characters I read as a kid come to life.
I couldn't wait to turn 18, and be treated as an adult for once. When you're a child you don't have anything you can call your own, the grown-ups don't take you seriously, and it's just awful.
I would love to move out and I currently work two jobs, even so everything's too expensive so I'm trying to save up first.
The fantasy/sci-fi genre is not specifically for children, it's for people who want a distraction from the stresses of the real/modern world regardless of age.
Using terms that we associate with teenagers may not necessarily correlate with a lack of maturity, but I have to wonder why someone older would use such expressions.
The best I've come up with, in way of an explanation is that our society glorifies living as selfishly as possible, short term happiness being our main goal.

I am 51 and nobody takes me seriously now.
Omg @exitseven you made my day by your response 😭😂😂😂
@woman_2004 As did yours. Thank you for that. 😂😂😂
growing up isn't just having things to call your own, its earning those things yourself and OWNING it

I think your idea of maturity is quite flawed. Saying "dude" or "badass" has nothing to do with immaturity.
Using terms that we associate with teenagers may not necessarily correlate with a lack of maturity, but I have to wonder why someone older would use such expressions.
There really is nothing wrong with using such expressions. It's normal if you don't like that way of speaking but it's not considered "immature".
Lol so we are attaching peoples likes to there ability to have a job or the ability to tackle adult issues?
Gees, are you the guy who screams “get off my lawn!” at people?
Oh sure, that's grumpy old me. Now get off my lawn! :D
Lol.

I got the opposite experience. A girlfriend that barely can enjoy anything because it isn't "adult like" enough.
Simple things like going to a non expensive restaurant.
The jobs don't exist anymore and soon they won't altogether, this will happen with democrats involved in 'education' (read indoctrination)
Soylent green, that's the future
'Soylent Green' was a good film, but it was only fiction (although based upon fears that many people had at the time, like over-population).
That was to introduce the masses to the futurescope
Getting old is mandatory. Growing up is optional.
True!
People enable them. They've not had to suffer the consequences.
Being an adult means supporting yourself, being accountable, and productive. Anything else is bullshit.
Same reason why so many girls (and guys admittedly) fail to grow up and mature.
Human nature. Its something we will never hear the end of.
There is simply less motivation for guys to grow up these days.
They are laking the gene, not taught properly or they are pressured to mature in wrong way
Our society pampers people too much
I still say dude... I'm that immature
That makes 2 of us 😅
@Eroache69 dude!
lol...
