Why is he giving me the silent treatment for something he did?

I'm not dating this guy but he was flirting with me and wanting to hangout to see if something would happen between us. but then he stopped doing that so we just decided to be friends. I told this guy about what all the horrible stuff his friends were saying about him, his friends were telling me what kind of a horrible person he was to girls how he mistreated them and everything I mean he did not put his hands on them that's not what I mean. And when I told him what his friend said he just said show me the screenshots and I did and then he saved them into his phone but then he just went quiet on me didn't say another word and it's been like weeks since I last heard from him. The crazy part is what I want to understand is why am I still on his friends list and why am I not blocked? I mean why is he ignoring me but keeping me on his friends list that's what confused about, is he just hoping if enough time goes by that he can just slip back into talking to me and act like nothing happened or what's going on?
