He said he’s not ready for a relationship now?

We haven’t had any kind of romantic relationship of any sorts, we’re (not close) friends and are really comfortable with each other and I like him and it would seem he likes me as well. Today we talked about relationships and stuff, and he said he had a horrible break up with his last girlfriend a couple years ago that left him traumatized. He told me it was a really toxic relationship where she’d stalk him and the breakup itself was bad. And that right now he doesn’t feel ready to commit to a serious relationship, even though he does plan to have a serious relationship in the future, but he doesn’t feel ready right now. It kind of threw me off cause we sometimes hint that in the future there might be something, potentially long lasting but that it’s something to wait on cause it’s not the right time (and I kind of agree it really feels like right person wrong timing for me as well sometimes). But it still threw me off. He wasn’t talking about our relationship specifically, he kind of went into stream of consciousness out loud. So I’m wondering if he said that cause that’s exactly what he means and he’s being honest or if it should be a clue he’s not really into me?
