Why does he look at my stories instead of apologizing?

Me and this guy had a falling out a couple of weeks ago. I’ve been avoiding looking at his stories because I want him to know he’s pretty much dead to me and that the situation he put me in hurt me. He has been looking at my social media posts, but why won’t he simply apologize? Why are people so self absorbed these days to the point where an apology feels like you are plucking hair from someone’s scalp?

The thing I did was disrespect myself by making someone a priority (him) when I was never a priority to him. He gave me a reason to stop caring / overall avoid him.
