I remember in the initial stages of dating I showed him a picture of me in France but it was a group picture and he goes like you look strict (nicer way to say I have a bitch face haha), anyways and then he looks at one of my friend and goes like she looks like a nerd and then looks at another one and says she is really pretty. I kinda felt bad only cause he didn’t say anything nice about me. I thought it’s my fault and I shouldn’t feel bad. Later I remember showing a childhood picture of me and his first thought was, “oh your hair is so curly”. it felt like it came in a not so nice way.. and then we speak about hair textures etc and he says he likes kaylee’s hair (his random friend).. I don't know if it’s wrong for me to feel bad.. am I insecure or is it valid for me to feel lol bad.

If he is dating you and you are his girlfriend that’s for a reason and that’s because he likes you.

I tried playing that game and it’s the worst thing I ever did. I hated it and will never do that in a relationship. It’s cause if I do that then what’s the point.. I’m not that person. I don’t want to be someone who hurts someone because I got hurt.. plus I don’t want a relationship if the dynamic is where I compete with him or make him feel negative etc.. but I understand what you are trying to say. Sometimes it's not someone's love language. There might be other ways he shows his attraction, it won't always be through compliments. Although it is a bit mean to compliment others to your face and not compliment you, however unintentional.
