Why do some guy best friends come back around to their girl best friends after they break up with whoever it is they’re with?

Just a general question nothing to generalize here, but it’s based on an experience. I guess the main thing is this girl is threatened by the girl best friend which is understandable. They force this guy to push off that friendship for the time being, even through hesitance and reluctance. Even going behind the scenes to check in on their best friend through other friends, but when shit hits the fan and it ends they end up naturally coming around and making amends, perhaps even becoming closer
