It feels like men just stare at women and expect the women to come to them. So many young people are single because NO ONE MAKES A MOVE! And men can't expect women to come to them, it's not in a womans nature to chase.
Why are modern men like this? I see so many men stare at women and clearly being attracted to them, but just stare and not do anything. How will you ever find a wife if you can never get past the staring stage?

Then came the MeToo movement. And it was... almost EXACTLY the same thing. An accusation of sexual impropriety, an outraged mob, and vicious punishment, with absolutely NO demand of evidence of any kind. Accusation equals guilt. And while they don't murder anyone DIRECTLY, mass harassment campaigns of anyone employing or associating with them are intended to do precisely the same thing. On a purely abstract level, it's kind of impressive that these people manage to make even lynch mobs seem morally superior- THEY at least had the guts to do their own killing- it's a horrifying indictment of any society that finds this the LEAST bit tolerable.
If asking a woman out meant risking losing your job and facing lifelong social ostracism, how eager would YOU be to do it? Thankfully, that's not the case, but a great many people want men to THINK that it is- and you see for yourself the net result. Modern men simply aren't stupid enough to ignore self-preservation any more. What happens now is social selection; the third force of Darwinian evolution. Saying "it's not in a woman's nature to chase" is kinda like saying "it's not in an ape's nature to be bipedal". For eons, it wasn't- then we came along, and now we outnumber every other kind of ape combined. You adapt or you die out. The choice is yours.

But here I am at 46 years old after divorce and few failed relationships... so I will say this woman in general are so oblivious to how difficult they make it on men to get a date to begin with, but then to survive through a relationship it's ridiculous to me. I think it strongly depends on what sort of people live in your area. It seems logical that that would be the case in more modern areas, but being approached by a man is still very common in conservative areas.

It's because the other women in society at large have done an excellent job of making sure men feel like complete assholes for trying to express interest in women. Heck, there are plenty of women who make a point of making even the most basic interactions contentious and unpleasant, like trying to get passed her in the grocery store to pick out a frozen pizza can turn into an adversarial exchange.
So, for a lot of guys, the juice isn't worth the squeeze. Why would I bother making an effort to interact with women when there is such a high likelihood that the interaction will turn into a headache.
That's sad that women have affected men so much that they won't ask out them anymore.

And considering that most of what women can bring to men’s lives is companionship and a sense of peace; the adversarial interactions fly in direct opposition to the reason men wanted to interact with women in the first place.

However, in my opinion if a person likes someone then be it man or a woman I see nothing wrong if they decide to make the move, take the first step.
