I changed jobs during the pandemic. During that time, we all worked from home (tech company) and never really met face to face. In my discipline was a guy I really got along with. If I had to pick a best friend from my company, he's it. We chat together a lot, plenty of calls. Sometimes we just sit in a call talking while we're working.
Recently the company is starting to encourage more meetups and parties to try and help us all to meet each other. It's been over two years, and I still haven't met my friend face-to-face. I was really excited to meet him.
Unfortunately it seemed like he wasn't too excited. He just said hello and went around greeting other coworkers. Stopping to talk to them, socializing. Not with me. I wondered if maybe I did something wrong. Even a few times we passed at the party and I tried to smile, say hello. He didn't look me in the eyes.
However, a few times when I was walking around or talking to people, I felt like someone was watching. I didn't turn to check, but for some reason I'm sure it was him. Tried to look his way again, but he looks away.
Finally, I was leaving and took a minute to say bye. He said very quickly and went back talking. I went to a few more people. As I was leaving I turned one time and saw him just STARING. It was a bit creepy.
Has this guy been having feelings for me? I'm very confused, he's usually so nice and friendly, but I felt really shunned that day. He hasn't spoken to me since. Should I confront him? Or wait for him to say something? I'm not offended or anything, just a bit surprised.

He is trying to get to Director or Vice-President. If not, he was selecting either the prettiest or studying the most powerful etc
He might be in for a shock IF his Internet persona does not match his in-person persona. You learned it the other way around and they will learn it from Person-Remote exchange.
I know people in Big Pharma who were hired sight unseen, work remotely, and have not met in Person... and this one received a promotion. This particular pharma... it would have been devastating if even 2 people onsite came down with COVID. Just the scientists on campus and some essential phasing in overthe last 3 years
