Is it possible for a man to hate another guy’s guts simply because he wants that man’s woman? Especially if the woman was already with the man when they met the “jealous” man?

It happened to me once when I met this super cute Asian woman, but it was mostly because that guy treated her like crap. Her and I connected as soon as we started talking and I was crushing on her pretty hard. I started sticking up for her when he was being a jerk and things just went downhill from there.
