Did I scare him away by gifting him a hoodie?

So we’ve been causally talking and going on dates for 2 months ish, and last time we hung out I gifted him a hoodie because it’s my way of showing appreciation to him for all he’s done for our dates. I like to give even friends random gifts to show that they mean to me. I’ve gifted one of my best guy friend a shirt as well.
He did say thank you for the gesture and that he appreciated it but then ever since he’s been back from vacation and back to work and after I gifted him, he’s been very distant and quiet. He doesn’t engage or initiate like he did and I’m scared I gifted him too early and it might’ve freaked him out …

I don't know if the hoodie freaked him out necessarily. It sounds like it is something else. Try asking him.
