Your thoughts on dirty old men? What do you think of them?

They're a huge nuisance for me. I don't mind a compliment from an older man but usually dirty old men cross the line and they're really creepy. I have a dirty old man at my church and I think he gets his rocks off by making me uncomfortable and he knows I'm too naive and afraid to say anything.

I told the priest of my church about him making me uncomfortable and he told me he doesn't want to do anything about it. That he probably didn't mean anything, like he's just being nice. The priest in my church doesn't want to rock the boat I guess that's probably why he's so hesitant and uncomfortable.

But I need to stand up for myself. I was raised by my dad to basically respect everything a man does because a man is always right. Even though I am really uncomfortable I just don't say anything.

I only try to remove myself from the situation and it doesn't solve anything because the guy hunts me down to try to touch me (not sexual but intimate). I really need to get the guts to stand up for myself, it's crazy how hard it is for me to stand up for myself.

Have you guys had any creepy situations happen with older people making you uncomfortable?

My first job in education there was a young woman that I had no interest in that would frequently hit on me in front of co workers and in front of the supervisor, always talking about wanting to rub oils on me and wanting me do do afterschool events shirtless. Totally inappropriate while working at an elementary school. The same person would continually make similar comments. It was pretty uncomfortable.

Saw some old fat guy whistling at some girls I guess we’re around my age. This was last year but i still remember it. He was mumbling “so so..” under his breath and they heard him. I wanted to say something but i know better than to start trouble.

I'm glad that you talked to your priest. But I am highly disappointed in him for not taking any action.
If I were you, I would leave the church. And I would also write a letter to the bishop explaining why.

Yeah it was probably me lol. I don't really have another church to go to. Even though I have this creepy old man bothering me I have a lot of friends here. Something I noticed is, this old man touches all the women like that. Maybe he doesn't realize it's bad? I've seen him touch the kids as well but not like how he touches the women. But basically he seems like a man that is touchy feely.

I still think it's unacceptable. Do you have any female leaders in your church? (Not sure if that's a thing in Catholic churches. I'm a Protestant and we call them Deaconesses.)

No, just nuns but nothing like that. I don't mean to blame myself but I've never told him "Please don't touch me." But I do move away so he can't touch me. If I say something I feel like maybe it'll solve the issue. If he doesn't then I'll tell the priest in my religion and I'll demand he'll do something

Nuns are pretty hardcore. I don't think they take crap from any men. Maybe they would help give you some good advice on how to deal with the situation. Are you friends with any of them?
