Guys, Why is everything offensive?

This guy I’m talking to legit is offended or “off” with me, pretty much with everything I say.

Today he burnt his dinner and I giggled when he showed me. I could see an instant turn in his face. He immediately avoided eye contact and quickly ended the call.

I can understand some people are more sensitive than others, but it seems I cannot joke around with him at all. Joking around and having a laugh is an important staple for me to building a relationship.

what do you suggest?

It sounds like you may have a "you are perfect the way you are little boy... and even your spills and mistakes are perfect too... you are my perfect little Momma's boy". I am assuming that you have known this Gent for awhile. If not then you have seen your future with him. No self-deprecating humor can be hell to live with. Good luck with them.

Absolutely, I have no future with him. He is going through a lot (and by a lot I mean a LOT atm) After he gets over this wave of stress, I am going to have to say goodbye. It’s stressful having to monitor every word I say, and even compliments are not safe things to say anymore, he gets so angry over ridiculousness. Think of a sentence (any sentence) then imagine an argument over it. That’s what I’m dealing with.

Yeah, no one deserves to live this way. People are stupid sometimes... It is a shame but we do these things to ourselves and one day it will hit him.

For a while I blamed myself. Because his anger would cause me to react badly. Which I’d feel awful for afterwards. But I did a test and didn’t react to a single nasty word he said for weeks. Then guess what? He carried in and on. It never stops. So now I’m confident I won’t have to sit with the guilt of not trying hard enough, or for contributing to the issues. I’m guilt free.

I think that you must stay away from such people, if they aren't able to realize tye real you after sometime than they do not deserve your presence...

It’s strange. This person I believe has done personal struggles. I just hate that he chooses to vent them at me. Like it’s “safe” to display this kind of behaviour. But to everyone else he’s the nice guy

I don't like someone making the sweet giant sad, especially when she tries to make them happy, she's there to make him happy and he should be thankful

This is just one example. But everything I say and do gets twisted. Then I have to play detective and try and figure out what I did wrong. It’s really weird.

If he knew you well and was smart enough to know what's inside your mind, the way you think and the way you feel than you wouldn't have to be that detective to put all this meaningless effort...

Yeah, I have never experienced anything like this before. Anytime I open my mouth there is an issue.

That wasn’t the focus of the conversation. I know him well. If it’s not this it’s anything. I’m an extremely kind person, but when he’s had a bad day absolutely anything and everything I say causes a reaction
