Guy's Behavior

The guy I like acts hot and cold? What can I do?

He's my college friend, we are the same year and he was the first one to dm me and we became quite close (I think). I think he has feelings for me too; he often stares at me and then looks away when I catch him (he is quite shy and introverted, I am too) or he often waits for me so that we can walk together (but only whenever my friends are not around). When I left without a word after a class one day because I was annoyed at his behaviour he actually sat with me after classes, waited with me and then walked me to my bus stop (and had to run for his bus). He sometimes initiates conversations but then goes cold and literally ignores me and doesn't reply to my texts for days even though he's online. He sometimes is cold in person as well. He usually wants to be near me that's why I think he reciprocatres the feelings. But the way he acts annoys me and I don't know what to do. I don't want to tell him about my feelings yet, I wish he put more effort to show me he actually likes me because that kind of behaviour of his makes me feel bad, annoyed or even sad. Should I ignore him back in person? Should I ignore his texts? I don't want to play games but I'm tired and can't tell him about my feelings yet. And I would rather see him proving that he likes me since he seems to be hiding his feelings. I've already did my best to show him I like him.
