Why did my ex ask me was I going to buy a gift for his birthday?

My ex-husband remarried and his wife and our daughter are buying him a gift. Why would he call me to ask me if I'm buying him a gift? He doesn't call me to wish me a Happy Mother's Day less more Happy Birthday.. is he crazy?

I called him back and asked him are you crazy or do you only think about yourself- he tells me well I'm going to buy a mother day gift hence he's never wished me a Happy Mother's Day - his wife can't birth him any kids medically- I did.. am I going to buy him a gift no nor send our daughter with any money to buy him one. He's a egoistic and a narcissistic sob I don't need anything from him he needs to be a father for the kids..
