Guy I was seeing for two months comes back after 5 moths of ghosting situation?

Ok so there was this guy I was seeing for 2-3 months and things escalated very quickly next thing you know we are spending every single day together and he starts to say I love you to me! We were in contact every day even if we where separated there were constant ft calls phone calls messages all that! Then he went back to NYC to visit family and then we made it official that we are talking, then I find out a few days later from him that a girl hit him up asking him on a date and he told me that he wanted to go/ that he had the desire to because he wasn’t sure exactly what we were yet! But told me that he didn’t so I continued contact with him then I noticed that the phone calls were diff he would just still on the phone and not talk to it’s obvious that he was busy doing something else while on the phone with me. This went on for about a week then one day he texts me early in the day that he is going out and I don’t hear from him all day he leaves me on delivered for hours and then Doesn’t even calm me to say goodnight like he usually does. So I get scared and immediately think he was with the girl he mentioned and I tell him I don’t want to see him and more and I block him on everything. Soon I realize I regret it and um block him, he comes back to my city from NY and I see him we spend the weekend with each other and he’s super nasty/rude to me and then when I leave his place he ghosts me for 5 months! He just recently came back to me a few days ago and unblocked me on everything.. we spent two days together and now I haven’t seen him in 6 days and his messages are VERY dry! What should I do is this guy just playing me like why did he come back?
