Why did he just disappear?

So I met off a guy off reddit and me and him are both single parents. we agreed to be friends. he lives in Virginia for the Navy and I live in Oregon so I wasn't expecting anything romantic and i told him. so as a few weeks go by we talk and I help him with his daughter like advice wise. he then brings up to me he starting to catch feelings and I sorta like him but I just say to stay friends because long distance wouldn't work. we continue talking & joking whatever. he then says one night to me he loves me ! caught me off guard. he didn't say it to his ex til a year later he said. so he was just hopeful that we would be together I think it might very ruined our friendship now? He went 3 days without talking then said he was going through things and like now he hadn't messaged me for almost 2 weeks now. i last messaged him and no response he did watch my snapchat story once. but I'm confused why he disappeared. we agreed to be friends. should I just delete him now from My life?

How did you respond to him saying he loves you, if you didn't show being flattered at the very least then it's possible your cold reaction might have chased him away

Lol I was like pretty much like "what" he's like sorry. like I'm sorry but he knew what it was. i promised to be there to offer guidance but he thought we was gonna magically date

I strongly believe your reaction/response is why he's distant now, sometimes embarrassment makes a guy distant himself, not forever most of the time but until he feels comfortable enough to approach again

That's understandable but childish to just leave like that. Then again he says he's been feeling some way or sad I don't know 🤷‍♀️ we both knew what it was when we started talking
