What should I do if my boyfriend started this new thing where he says he will call me back but doesn't?

He says he will call me back and he does after an hour to 3 hours but I will message him and ask him whats going on? And then fall asleep. And he will call me back after that but won't respond to my text easing my mind or anything about what took him so long. Its late at night and he knows I work. So why wait that long to call me back….

He used to always text me back and clarify things, always stay on the phone with me, and we did both agree to give ourselves some time alone bc we talk so much but he still would text me and let me know

Sounds like some nonverbal communication is happening here. Like maybe he is getting tired of the constant texting and calling. You should maybe give him more space.

So, for me there might be a little texting fatigue or texting anxiety going on here. When a guy first meets a woman its new and exciting and we crave that communication. Over time you can start to feel overwhelmed by all the constant communication... and this can lead to texting anxiety.

In today's world with constant communication, social media and texting... you start to feel overwhelmed, as if you have no personal space or time just for yourself. Sometimes people just want to be in their space and start to set boundaries on things to allow for their privacy and time to be protected.

Maybe you should give this guy more space and be more respectful of his time and energy. Sometimes when start out on a relationship your welcome things and incorporate those things into your life... but over time you feel this need to focus on you self and protecting your own personal space and setting boundaries.

How about if they call friends during the times they aren’t speaking to you? Is that ok? Is that considered his personal time? We have both talked about how overwhelming it is to be on the phone every second of the day. Sometimes I want to do my own thing or even talk to my friends so I guess I answered my own question lol

100% you did answer your own question. I mean seriously... I really glad that you took the time to talk through that and think through it objectively. So few people these days can not and will not do that. So it warms my heart a little. Thank you for that.

And yes 100% when he is in his space he can choose what conversations he wants to have with who. And again 100% the same is true for you. The fact that you have actually talked about this means that he is struggling to create that space for himself, but still maintain that space he wants to reserve for just you. Don't call him, just wait until you with him in person and address it with him from a prospective of caring and understanding and work it out with him. But respect and protect his space as much as you want yours protected and respected.
