Does he really need rest or just fibbing?

Now I want to start by saying I didn’t expect much from this and still don’t. Just wondering about an in the moment question.

On a weekend vacation and hooked up with this guy last night. It went REALLY well for both of us. He knew I was leaving in two days but said as he left if I wanted to hang out again before our departure to let him know but if not he totally understands. I said ok.

Ended up texting him the today asking if he was busy tonight. He said he’s actually worn tf out and needs to rest tonight. Now I want to add that he didn’t come over till 2:30 yesterday and probably didn’t get home till 4:00 and had work at 8:00. It’s just confusing that he would offer to hang out more if he didn’t mean it or at I being too hard on him and with those late hours he’s probably honestly tired. Again not expecting anything long term just hate when someone would try to twist things just to make me feel better if they didn’t mean it

I wouldn't think too much into it to be honest. He probably was tired and worn out. Since this was a fling what reason would he have to lie to you? He couldn't have just said it was a one night thing for him and that was it. Instead he had intention to but ended up just too tired. That is how I would take it. Again what reason would he have to lie since you're leaving?
