I have a colleague who calls me by my nickname or shortened name. My name isn’t really long and he’s really the only one of two people that does it, though he does it pretty consistently. Would this mean anything other than establishing a friendly work relationship to you?
I feel like other colleagues have started to notice and maybe questioning why he does. I don’t mind it, but never introduced myself by that name at work. My names pretty simple and short as it is.

Yes, shortening the name always means something. It can mean that he looks down on you like a child that needs to be taken care of, or maybe he likes you, or he wants to show others that he is friends with you - and a few other things.
Unfortunately without further explaination, one can hardly guess the reasons in your case. If your ask is actually if it means that he likes you, the answer would be found in other behaviour he shows when interacting with you. I guess alone the fact that he calls you by nickname in front of others means that he is not an introvertive guy when it comes to interaction with women.
Interesting. Thanks for the perspective on introvert vs extrovert. Much appreciated!
