What are some weird or even negative roommates you’ve had?

for me some of the ones I’ve had that sort of boggle the mind:

• ones who act like you don’t exist when they see you in the same room or have a friend over and they both don’t even say hi
• ones who leave pee on the seat (men, sorry!) or poop streaks all inside the toilet bowl and can’t take the courtesy to brush it out with the toilet brush, they should be ashamed!
• roommates who try to control you, trying to make sure you do your chores in time or do them correctly or they nitpick sending texts about how they found a strand of hair in the bathtub. You just have to keep the peace and ignore as much as possible. I have a feeling types like this just want drama.

Three of us rented a house. We were all young professionals very early in our careers. We agreed that no one, including girlfriends, would get a key. That was the last straw when we found his girlfriend had a key. It was a big blowout out on the driveway. She threw the key on the ground after denying she had one. We knew though as things added up that way.

She was a loud F too. “Oh Steve, oh Steve” with lots of moaning like an actress trying to land that guy for marriage. Lots of other issues to as he marked his food and claimed we ate his whole frozen chicken, it was a local handyman who also had a key that helped himself after fixing the garden gate even after I said no. In hindsight, he was likely having money problems and needed the food.

So we decided to move out and get a new place with a new third roommate. When we told him he assumed we would only be renting a house for two, I told him no… that was met with some silence. I told him it was because he violated our one rule with the key. We actually interviewed people for our new third roommate. It was a great choice in new roommate, we had a great time. We lived in a very large townhouse on a golf course. Fun times.

An ex girlfriend of mine moved in with me as a roommate, and she promptly began having guys spend the night with her quite frequently. Jackie loved to have loud, passionate sex with her boyfriends, to make me jealous and frustrated. When she started dating Gus, an older Greek guy who was very dominant and aggressive, she knew she'd found the perfect guy to bully me and thoroughly humiliate me. She soon had him beating my bare bottom with his belt until I was in tears and begging him to stop. Although it was very humiliating, I wasn't about to tell her to make him stop.

I live with a nightmare roommate right now. Me and the third roommate plan on asking him to move out at the end of the lease. He's just obnoxious and doesn't clean up after himself. He's also negligent, leaves the stove on, lights on, he's just an overall nuisance. Sometimes I wish he'd try to put hands on me so I can rearrange his face.

@Jtittitj thanks. They don't think about others but they also don't think about themselves, like they have no pride, and don't care that other people are disgusted by them. I would've had enough self respect to die of embarrassment. And certainly I would never do it again.

@Jtittitj yes. He had serious issues. Like I think he got off on us knowing what he was doing. Like a form of self harm. It's something I'll never understand, but apparently that's a turn on for certain people? I think he was really damaged. Like he had a thing for being caught.

@Jtittitj it was a total lack of self control, for sure. But it's pretty grim when you run into someone who is a slave to their appetites. For some reason that I don't understand, I've heard that self degredation is arousing for some people who have been hurt in the past. Maybe it's a guy thing too.

@Jtittitj no. But I knew he was depressed. He had so many hallmarks of depression, anxiety. I think he was isolated for a long time (like he had no friends I knew of and no SO). That can really hurt someone. So not friends, but I felt bad for him. When I wasn't put off by him

@Jtittitj I don't know either. I guess in some twisted way it gave him a satisfaction he really wanted. But I'll never understand how/why that would ever be a turn on for anyone. It's a very personal/private thing for me that I wouldn't want anyone else to be aware of. I just have my own fantasies that I think about when I do it that I keep totally to myself.

@Jtittitj haha same here. Some people do get loud and they have to come up with ways to keep it to themselves. I had another roommate at a different place who would always play this certain kind of music when she was having sex with her boyfriend. Good way to keep things private when it's a small place.
