How to explain to someone why I ghosted them and cut contact?

So I was chatting on the phone and online to a guy I went to school with years ago and he became more and more flirtatious and suggestive in his messages and then mentioned casually he is newly dating someone but it’s not serious. I have immediately cut contact as it’s just wrong but I have to see him at the weekend at a party shall I be honest about why I’m avoiding him?

See I don't normally like to ghost anyone, which sometimes is the correct answer to avoid being harassed or otherwise. I don't blame you for how you handled the situation. But if you're afraid of running into him at the party you might just want to send a simple reply at some point. That you don't want to continue whatever you've got going on with him because of his loose approach to dating, which doesn't fit your style. Dating him would likely have gotten you in the same boat. If you were sneaky you could have asked his new date if that's how she also feels, but that's just causing extra headache.

Why do you think you have to explain it? Ghosting someone just because you aren't feeling them is wrong. Ghosting someone for a legitimate reason (and I consider this one one of them) is not wrong.

I don't consider it my job to teach women right from wrong. And you're not his mom so it isn't your job either.
