Why did he want to zoom call (please see details)?

I know a guy through common friends ( we live in different countries but met in person once where we went on sort of a coffee date). We have a bit of history where we started talking because I reached out to him for help related to my studies so like a mentor but since we had a lot of similar interests, I liked him, told him I did and he said he did not see me as someone he'd want a relationship with. He used to be hot and cold and it kinda ended in an argument. We did not talk for 6 months.

Fast forward now, I reach out to him again (messaged him in a strictly professional tone) because I had questions about my career that he could really help with. I kept the texts super formal. Now he insisted we talk on phone to discuss and I said yes assuming he meant voice call, which we always did for such discussions. Then he asked if I could send him a zoom link. I again thought maybe he just wants to keep it professional and we would keep our cameras off. But we had a video call, why would he suddenly want to video call?

Just to add to that, everytime we talked before this was only on text or through a voice call on whatsapp

While I’d jump at the chance to say he’s crushing hard on you, just has to see you, and probably is probably fishing for cam sex. The reality is, video calls are considered professional and often encouraged. In my work setting you can get away with off camera in large information meetings, but in a small meeting there’s a lot of apologizing going on when you’re not on camera. It’s more difficult to build rapport and impossible to assess body language otherwise. I mean, if you were in the same place, you’d do it in person, right?

Well that makes sense. But I also realized after posting this question that, I am a model and recently posted a steamy photoshoot on my socials which he definitely saw. Now I'm wondering if that has anything to do with this sudden change in him.

I know video chats are normal, and he does that a lot, but only in groups. I know he definitely avoids one on ones otherwise.

Not a small and unimportant detail. 😂 Look, I occasionally surprise colleagues too by FaceTiming instead of just texting. Do they tend to be the more attractive ones? Sometimes. But it’s not to leer. It’s just nicer that way. Camera on is normal. Especially with the drop in engagement post Covid.
