My best friend *Nina* dresses in scruffy street clothes and is a tomboy and a masculine woman in her tastes, emotions and interests; she attracts preppy, metrosexual types of effeminate and sensitive men. I’m well groomed, girly and feminine. I attract the scruffy, bearded, hoodie wearing, masculine men.
No.
Likeness attracts. People are individuals. There are almost always some things that are very different between two people. But the differences are not what bind them together. There is some commonality that binds them together, even if it's not apparent.
If it feels like you are attracted to an opposite, look more closely.

This is not too far off from my current situation. I can't figure out why I'm so attracted to her. I just know that when I am with her it feels so right. She's into fashion, and thinks I should dress nice to "impress" people. But the people I want to impress are impressed by greasy clothes from working on a car.Can you rebuild an engine? Yes? OK, that gains a little respect. If you want to put on a tux and go the the opera, that's OK - as long as you can rebuild an engine when you're not wearing a tux.
I have never wanted a "prissy" helpless woman. So why am I so attracted to someone who loves pink, long fake nails, loves going to musicals, and loves shopping for things other than tools?
I can't for the life of me figure out why, but I know there is something that binds us.

I think men just have types/preferences. I guess women do too. I love women who have confidence but for me it's more about personality. I prefer women without make up and am equally attracted to a woman who wears a baseball cap and frumpy sweater as I would be if she was dressed up. For me it means she has the confidence to say 'I don't care what you think of me' while still exuding femininity.
I don't know why but I've always attracted the more loud, obnoxious, confident and pretty girly-girl type. I'm a dress down, don't care what women think, or men.
Maybe they think they can tame me lol.
I've never been one to pick the prettiest girl who is the centre of attention. I'd be more likely to go for the quiet one in the corner. The one more likely to be comfortable walking around town, happy in her own skin but also happy blending in.
However, as I say I tend to attract girly girls.
So in answer. No I don't think so but there is a reason why we're drawn to people, it's too complex to put a finger on though.
Some yes. Some nope. I can attract and be attracted to both in different levels/areas.

No that myth has by and large been disproven
Not all the time. I know that some introverts can be attracted to each other.
They also repel. People aren’t merely a composition of oppositely charged particles.
