My good guy friend I asked if he ever saw us leading to something more than casual friends?

My guy friend and I who I have known for a few years now. Recently we have been hanging out more! I went out with him the other day and I asked if he ever saw us moving towards something more than casual friends and he said yeah possibly/maybe and I left it at that! This was a few days ago and we still talk normally but i wasn't sure if maybe that is really more him saying no and he is just scared to say that?

Hard to say. It sort of sounds as if he wavered a bit or was caught off guard and that is why he said maybe or possibly. That left the door open for him to think about it. It is impossible to say what he is thinking. Only he knows that. I guess the best thing to do is to see if he brings it up or makes a move towards something more than friends. If you do it again and especially too soon you are going to come off pushy. Also if he is thinking no to that you risk ruining the relationship all together. That is something to think about too. If things go wrong in a relationship and you lose a friend will you be okay with that or hate yourself for it?
