Why does my insecure boyfriend makes comments about wanting me to modify my appearance although I'm attractive?

So my boyfriend of 2 years is a very insecure and jealous guy. He has problems with his body ( he is extremely skinny ) and doesn't like his own appearance ( although I love both his personality and looks ). He sometimes started making some comments that I found hurtful about my own appearance. I hate bragging but most guys actually stare at my face if I go out. I vented once saying that I've never made any sort of hurtful comments about his appearance he said he was sorry then like time passed and yesterday he gave me an example mentioning some girl I posted an Instagram story with saying why don't you get your eyebrows lifted? I asked him why the f he checked my friend and did not talk with him. He apologized again and I told him that if he isn't attracted he can go find someone else tbh. He doesn't leave me either. What do you think is going on here and why doesn't he just leave if he wants to try to modify me?

I'd say tell him clearly that if he comes with this shit up to you again you gonna pack your stuff and leave him for good. Have some backbone and dont let yourself be insulted by someone who should be your greatest supporter and admirer.

Give him that warning but then act like it or he looses all respect for you.

Well you clearly mentioned that he is insecure and jealous and both of these issues go hand in hand.

As for your boyfriend I think he is just being in a relationship for the sake of showing others that he is not single and for other wrong reasons. From what you have mentioned, he does not seem to be happy as a person either.
