Why does my boyfriend always try to purposely make me jealous by talking about his female coworkers?

I’m in a LDR with my boyfriend so with the distance it’s even more difficult with being apart from each other. I’ve noticed on more than one occasion now when we are apart from each other, he will bring up a female colleague he works with and tell me that other people have made comments about him flirting with them, or he will specifically bring up a name of one of his female colleagues to me and text me saying how well they are getting on together and how much she’s told him that she loves working together with him and how sweet he finds her. I tend to just respond and be supportive of him as I don’t want to play into these games and come across as the insecure one in the relationship

So why is he trying to provoke me and make me jealous?

I think he's trying to make you fear losing him. He's letting you know he has other options and since this is long distance you better get ready for break up soon since he's closer to these other women. It's best to find someone in a 5 to 10 mile radius of you cause keeping up with these relationships are hard.

The guy had insecurities galore and narcissistic, wasn't a pleasant experience

It started about his colleagues. Then it became him talking about previous women he fucked. Then it became about him fucking my friends.

That he was provoking shit did not register and he would constantly say I was the problematic one, that I was bringing up my friends (nope & why would I be when I did NOT want to talk about them sexually) and "getting after" him for talking about them (when he kept bringing them up), etc.

Because he feels they treat him better than what your relationship gives him. I think he´s not secure about your relationship and he feels lack in some parts. Therefore he´s open to female coworkers flirting with him.

I´ve never been in LDR therefore I can´t help you solve the situation. Maybe it could even be a good option to end it if you both don´t come to an agreement since it´s harder to show affection and love long distance. But that´s something you both should talk about.

He's using these other women as a means of debasing your confidence in the relationship. The intent is, is to make you more willing to have sex or engage in sexual activities (e. g. blow jobs) whenever you may meet up afraid that if you don't engage in these activities - or other activities - with him he'd get involved with someone else.

My latest ex used to do this. Now I would rather know that a co worker is good looking than accidentally bump into her and find out that way but he was way too enthusiastic about telling me that they're good looking. Never seemed to get it pissed me off.

He’s insecure he’s insecure about losing you so wants you to preemptively think he’s got a ton of options so don’t leave him. He wants to feel desired and wanted because he’s insecure.
